Islands in the stream

Apparently, I also abandoned another blog on Myspace. So here is a little bit from May 6, 2006

When I was a little kid, my favorite song was "Islands in the Stream."...I think it was sung by Dolly Parton. I loved that song. I would sing it to myself all the time. I was probably about 5 or 6 years old when this was going on. I never could get the lyrics straight, but that didn't faze me. I would sing at the top of my voice
"Islands in the stream, that is what we are! No one in between, how could we be wrong?
I would shimmy around in my underpants (I didn't wear clothes much) all over my pink bedroom, belting it out for all to hear. I used my hairbrush as a microphone. Good use, too, because I wasn't using it on my hair.
"Sail away with me, to another world!
My sister hated me at the time, and would throw her shoes (or anything handy, for that matter) at me, shooing me from the room. I'd start strutting down the hall, past my brother's room, where they would effectively slam the door in disgust. Into the dining room, where Mama would scream at me to get out of the house.
"Where we'll rely on each other, uh-huh!"
Then I'd head out to the trampoline, where I could sing good and loud. We lived out in the country, so there wasn't a chance of bothering anyone but Owen, our dog.
"Like one brother to another, uh-huh!" At this point, I would start jumping on the trampoline and shouting each line as I bounced. No one was outside, and Owen certainly didn't care. "ISLANDS IN THE STREAM...THAT IS WHAT WE ARE...NO ONE IN BETWEEN... HOW CAN WE BE WRONG... SAIL AWAY WITH ME..."

Overdue update

Okay, so I had a blog for a while but abandoned it in 2009 when my life took a sharp turn for the unstable. Shortly thereafter things perked up again and life resumed in a semi-healthy manner. However, my blog never endured the nasty fog of 2009.

I feel sort of sorry for that old blog, in a way. It had a sad little life and did not deserve the harsh treatment I dealt it. I'm sorry, little fella. I'll try to be better to your sibling, "The merrysash extension."

So, if you ever come across "Second floor living without a yard" just remember that you can now find me here. Among the land of the living, and hectic, and much happier.
